A new forward-looking, action-oriented agroecology will be launched in cooperation with the main partners at the 2nd international symposium organized by FAO on this topic in Rome from April 3 to 5. The purpose of this symposium is to share and discuss policies that can help vertical and horizontal expansion of agroecology to achieve sustainable development goals. Stéphane Travert, Minister of Agriculture and Food, will speak alongside other personalities in the high-level session that will close the symposium.

Marion Guillou, Chair of Agreenium's Board of Directors, will participate on Tuesday, April 3, in a joint introductory presentation with Prof. Luo Shiming, South China Agricultural University (SCAU) and Rilma Roman, Director, National Trabalhadores Pequenos Association (ANAP) .

The rest of the day aims to identify the common challenges and outcomes of the regional dialogues, launched following the first symposium organized by FAO in 2014 on agroecology for food security and nutrition. These regional meetings were held in 2015 and 2016. They involved approximately 1,350 multi-stakeholder participants from 162 member countries. Etienne Hainzelin, advisor to the president of Cirad (member of Agreenium) will intervene in this sequence.

The second day devoted to agroecology in action will report on national experiences in agroecology across all continents. This should contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The third day, centered around the concept of scaling up agroecology, will focus on partnerships that can help transform food and agriculture into support for the SDGs. Philippe Mauguin, President and CEO of Inra (member of Agreenium), will participate in the section dedicated to dialogue and multi-stakeholder engagement.
